THINKK Studio and Studio248

Two Thai design studios, THINKK run by Decha Archjananup and Ploypan Theerachai and STUDIO248, which was founded by Jakkapun Charinrattana, have joined together to create a new series of furniture.  The collaboration has produced a four-piece collection of simple, everyday designs that will be presented this April at Ventura Lambrate during this year’s Salone del Mobile fair in Milan.

The collection, which consists of a unique and very functional “Arms Chair”,  a closet that encourages the user of it to plan for a week of outfits to wear and is aptly called the “7 day Closet”, a lamp called “ Crane Lamp” which appears simple but can be transformed into several shapes and positions and a Vase entitled, “Merging Top” that consists of two vases that can tilt or be stacked to create flower arrangements that have a sense of humor but also convey a simple work of art to the observer.

The entire collection, except the “Merging Top” vase has been developed using ash wood.  The “Merging Top” design is composed from ash wood, marble and ceramic, which furthers the contrast of the design by the materials almost opposing each other.

It was the designers intention that by “Observing specific details in the simplest everyday actions resulted in this collaborative project by THINKK Studio and Studio 248 that explores specific gestures unmet by conventional furniture: “ARMS chair”, a multi- armrest chair for various sitting gestures and “7-day-closet: for personalizing outfit selections for the week.  This collaboration also features works with hidden twists such as “Merging Top”: stackable tilted vase set that puts the fun back into flower arranging and “Crane Lamp”: simple at first glance but it’s flexible joints can transform it into many different shapes and positions.”
